Description

Patrick Lubar, Assistant Vice President of Commercial Banking at Ixonia Bank talks with Joey Zocher, Ph.D. and Executive Director of TransCenter for Youth to learn more about TransCenter for Youth and its important mission.

TransCenter for Youth, founded in 1969 to work with “at-risk” and adjudicated youth, operates four small high schools in Milwaukee that serve the unique needs of students through innovative, culturally appropriate approaches to teaching and learning, serving as education models for other schools.  In this episode, we learn:

  • What makes TransCenter for Youth, and its four schools, unique from a typical high school system?
  • How is success measured in their non-traditional education system?
  • What sort of funding challenges do the four schools face? And how do they work with other local school systems and educational models?
